Ergonomic Evaluation

  • Is your equipment well laid out on a good work surface, or are you typing on one of those keyboard draws that bounce and wiggle?

  • Is the work area well light, with general lighting and with task lighting?

  • Is the light reflected in your monitor?

  • Has you chair seen better days?

Your desk chair is the most important piece of furniture in the office.  Be sure it is comfortable, provides good support and is the correct height (or is adjustable). Office furniture doesn't have to cost a fortune.  A couple of two draw file cabinets and a door from the hardware store make a great desk.  It has good storage (four file drawers),  plenty of work space, and is deep enough for a computer workstation.

Try some inexpensive track lighting and a Custom Corner Neoclassical Table Lamp on the desk to reduce eye strain, and brighten the work areas.

Well how did you office stack up?  Could it use a little work? Don't feel bad most home offices could, but now you know what to look for.  If you need a little help along the way contact a Design Consultant specializing in Home Offices.
